sikandar atiq | Co-Chair

Sikandar has served as Chair and Co-Chair of the Mosquers for over six years and brings a wealth of experience in corporate leadership, successfully growing organizations, and is actively involved in numerous projects both with and outside the Mosquers that look to tackle Islamophobia through art. He is also currently serving in the national Narrative Change Lab put together by Inspirit Foundation which shall attempt to create meaningful and long lasting change within mainstream Canadian narratives.

As Co-Chair of the Mosquers, he helps to look after the strategic vision and direction of the Mosquers, oversees the different portfolios, and develops strategic relationships for our growth. He also co-hosts the “The Halal Gap” podcast.

Sikandar joined the Mosquers board because he recognized the substantial power that art, and specifically film, has in building empathy and shifting mindsets. He believed that by telling unique and incredible stories, it was possible to challenge misconceptions about underrepresented communities that are often misrepresented. He felt that it was crucial to celebrate the people within these communities and showcase their talent through an awesome show. The ultimate goal was to provide a platform for marginalized voices to be heard and challenge the misrepresentations of these communities.
